A Misty Sunrise
Weather and mosquitoes have kept me from getting out to hike but the sunrise this morning was worth fighting off the pest. The water level in the river is down enough that I could stand on the lower deck for most of these. The sunrise photos are upriver toward Sauk City and the first two are west toward Ferry Bluff.

Riverland Conservancy
On the return trip home from our hike at Parfrey's Glen I noticed a couple parking lots off of Hwy 113. On nice day recently I called a friend and asked if she had time to go for a hike? As usual the reply was give me about an half hour. "Where are we going", was the first question when she got in the car. "It's someplace new!", was all she got out of me.
The first stop was on the left after turning off Hwy 78. This a small but interesting loop. From the parking lot you can an observation deck. From this advantage point you can see for miles overlooking this new found treasure (new to me). It's been in the works since1997. Check the attached web site for the story.
Then a short drive north on Hwy 113 there's another parking lot on the right hand side. This consist of several loops. We decided to give them all a try. From the photos you can see that includes a number of habitates.
Along the way a couple friends of "Mother Nature" beckoned us back.
I've missed years of adventures hiking in this treasure. I'll return often.
Be sure to check out the history of this place!

Parfrey's Glen
" A hike back in time."
These photos will give you a taste of what nature has created just a short drive from your back door. In some cases you"ll wonder what's keeping the rock formations from falling on your head.I'll give you a hint.
"Mother Nature"
Although at times gravity got the best of her.
Into the gorge we go !!!
At one time there was a wooden walkway through here but "Mother Nature" decided she wanted it to be her way or no way. A few years ago the gorge was flooded and washed it all away.
Now there are huge boulders blocking the way to the waterfall and pool at it's bottom.
I have gone other them in years passed but now it's best left to someone a little younger.
